here. 1950 - Miller Highland Park opened for its first season of youth baseball. One diamond was used with no concession stand. 1950's - United Commercial Travelers of America made a donation to the park and the park was renamed UCT. 1957 - The first Annual City Tournament began. 1958 - Coca-Cola Cokes became the first UCT team to win a City Tournament. 1959 - Coca-Cola Cokes won its second straight City Tournament. 1960's - As interest in youth baseball grew in Kokomo a second field was built. This would become known as the Minor League Field, then called Farm League. 1977 - Coca-Cola Cokes won the City Tournament, ending a 17 year drought for UCT. Notable players on that championship team; Rex Gingrich, Lewie Williams, Phil Richmond, Tim McMain, and Jim Schaffer 1980 - The late Rick Cunningham, minor league director, helped add lights to the minor league field. Making UCT the first park in the city to play minor league games 'under the lights'. 1981 - During April of this year, the park was massively flooded. Only the top of the press box was visible. Games were moved to other parks until the park was cleaned. 1980's - An electric scoreboard was installed in right center field of the minor league diamond. 1986 - Lowdermilk Electric won the City Tournament. 1988 - Lowdermilk Electric won its second City Tournament. 1990's - The T Ball program was added to UCT. 1990's - New minor and major league dugouts were constructed. Also constructed during this time was the minor league press box. 1998 - Replay won the City Tournament 2003 - Eriks Chevrolet won the City Tournament 2004 - During a July 4th storm, the park was once again massively flooded. The fields were left in horrible shape and brought back to life with the help of Steve Williams and his crews at Williams Mowing. Steve not only brought both fields back to life but did it all for FREE!!! Williams Mowing continues to DONATE lawn care for both fields at UCT!!! 2006 - Second electronic scoreboard was added along the 3rd base line of the minor league field. 2008 - Rookie league program was added to UCT |
